Many of the clubs and organizations at Kean University are dedicated to serving the campus and local communities. Kean students have worked all over Union County participating in numerous service projects to help groups of people and significant causes.
Kean’s American Sign Language (ASL) Club is an organization that seeks to educate the campus on the visual language and culture of the Deaf community. The group both helps students develop in their ASL abilities and hosts Deaf and ASL-themed events throughout the year.

Zijia Abigail Zhou, better known as Abigail, is an exchange student from Wenzhou-Kean (WKU) who has dived straight into involving and submerging herself in everything the Main Campus in Union, NJ has to offer. In only her first semester here, she has become a member of Wenzhou-Kean University Student Association, been hired to work with the Involvement Center and volunteered at multiple student community service projects like Alternative Spring Break and Community Food Bank.
With over 100 hours of community service under her belt, freshman Makenzie Powell is all about giving back to the community. Powell, an elementary education major, is very passionate about the community service she has participated in, as she is proud of the achievements made within her first year.

Zhou is a global business major from Wenzhou-Kean in her second semester studying here at Main Campus.
Student Occupation Therapy Association (SOTA) is an organization that prides itself in its ability to foster personal and professional development for its students studying occupational therapy. Alongside those students, other interested students are encouraged to join for the opportunity for community service, academic excellence and professional prosperity.

Founded in 1979, Kean Dance Theatre (KDT) is an organization that is very well-known and involved on campus. They strive to show their creativity and hard work through various dance styles. They perform dance styles including but not limited to jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, tap and more. Throughout the academic year, they make performances at some of the largest events such as Kean Dance Marathon and homecoming.
The Haitian Student Association (HSA) is an organization that prides itself in its knowledge and appreciation for Haitian culture. Upon entering the organization, students will be given the opportunity to discuss the culture of Haiti while understanding and examining the issues going on in Haiti. Moreover, students are able to participate in events that pertain to Haiti and its culture.
Kean’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is Kean's local chapter of the national organization run by and for the students. Since its inception five years ago, the chapter has now eclipsed over 100 total members. Throughout its existence, this group has allowed members to try their hand at the public relations practice both locally and within the context of an expansive network throughout the country.
Since coming to Kean the fall of 2018, Leonardo Polo has hit the ground running, immediately embracing everything Kean had to offer. Presently, he excels in his academics as a mathematical sciences major, participates at the Bronze Leadership Level for the Leadership Institute and serves the president of Chance at Performing (CAP).
The Co-Curricular Transcript (CCT) is an official record of a student’s involvement in educational experiences outside of the classroom. The CCT program is specifically designed to add incentive to student involvement in the learning process by documenting academic experiences that take place elsewhere beside the classroom.
Seniors at Kean University set the tone for their younger peers. With that being said, Kean has been able to provide them with resources and tools needed after graduation. Some of the skills included leadership, communication and soft skills, which are key factors for employers.
Kean University intends to create an environment full of resources that eases the transition from high school to college for freshmen. One of the departments that is based around first-year students is the School of General Studies. Moreover, the department seeks to prepare undergraduate students for success and strong skills.
