As a part of Women’s History Month, Kean organizations hosted an event celebrating the diverse achievements of women who made changes in New Jersey. Collaboratively, the hosts shed light on many important female figures and spoke about their achievements, while educating Kean students about the resources available to them on campus.
On Friday, March 12, Residential Student Services (RSS) in collaboration with the National Council of Negro Women, Inc (NCNW) hosted a virtual yoga session via Zoom. This session allowed attendees to relax after their classes and was open to all students who wanted to expand their physical and spiritual wellness.
On Wednesday, March 10, Lambda Delta Chi, Delta Phi Epsilon and Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Inc. held a virtual presentation discussing the awareness of Down syndrome to students.
Midterms are coming up, which can become a stressful time for students. Through these resources and advice, students can proactively approach their midterms to ensure academic success.
Campus life is one of the things that draws students in the most. What can they do and where can they go for fun while living on their college campus? Between clubs, restaurants on-campus, student lounges and off-campus establishments, Kean’s Union Campus holds it all.
The Graduate and Part-Time Student Council and Student Organization hosted another live virtual tour on Wednesday, March 3. Attendees watched a Q&A/mini-performance from the country music duo, Maddie + Tae. This event was held once again through Loopedlive.com where everyone who wanted to watch was asked to pre-register beforehand.
Over the weekend of March 5-7, Kean’s Theatre Conservatory held a showing of their very own production, The Misadventures of Romeo and Juliet. This work was a modern approach to one of William Shakespeare’s most famous plays and was put together through the hard work of Kean students, staff and faculty.
On March 4, Kean’s Association of Marketing (KAM), along with the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, hosted their third seminar in the KAM Seminar Series.
With the Spring 2021 semester halfway complete, the university is gearing up for Research Days, an annual event that provides students and faculty to present research activities, whether they be complete or in-progress, to the Kean community.
Want to learn how to fly a drone? Kean Skylands will be hosting an Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) Training from Tuesday, March 16 to Thursday, March 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This event will be in-person and all appropriate safety measures will be taken to ensure the safety of all participants.
For the fourth week in a row, the Graduate and Part-Time Student Council and Student Organization hosted a live virtual tour with Kean University on Wednesday, Feb. 24. This time, attendees got to watch a Q&A with comedian and actress, Melissa Villaseñor from Saturday Night Live (SNL). Attendees were asked to preregister through Loopedlive.com and once registration was confirmed, the event could be watched through a web browser or the Looped app.
On Feb. 26, Kean’s Nancy Thompson Library Learning Commons (NTLC) held an Allied Health Digital Library Resources Webinar. Kean students were exposed to the many databases on the NTLC website that can help them find health and medical information. The goal of this workshop was to guide students into access to evidence-based healthcare information.
On Wednesday, Feb. 24, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion held a virtual discussion on the re-appropriation in marginalized environments located in urban spaces led by Akira Drake Rodriguez, Ph.D, assistant professor at the University of Pennsylvania's Weitzman School of Design.
Since 1987, the month of March has been declared Women’s History Month, commemorating and acknowledging the contributions that various women, past and present have made to the world. In honor of this month, different departments and organizations throughout the university have coordinated events to celebrate and also shed light on women’s history.
On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the Graduate and Part-time Student Council alongside the Student Organization of Kean University came together to bring the On Your Campus Virtual Tour to students, where they had the opportunity to tune into a live musical set from rapper Young M.A. After her performance, Young M.A. partook in a Q & A with staff.

With the white covering the roads and the temperature dropping, Kean's University Relations announced on Thursday, Feb. 18 that classes, remote and in-person, will be canceled due to a weather forecast of snow and ice conditions.
On Friday, Feb. 12, Kean's Programming for Unique and Lively Student Experience (P.U.L.S.E.) and the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) held a virtual self-defense class with the We Save Lives Fitness Gym in New Brunswick, NJ in honor of One Billion Rising: Violence Against Women via Zoom from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
On Feb. 12, Kean P.U.L.S.E Programming Board for Unique and Lively students (P.U.L.S.E) hosted a virtual Lunar New Year celebration. Kean students were given the opportunity to learn traditions on how to bring in the Lunar New Year, gain knowledge on Chinese culture and even had the chance to receive a Year of the Ox T-shirt.
