For freshman Lester Castillo, the decision to come to Kean meant that he will continue to pursue a field that he is a passionate about while also having a fresh start to prove to himself that he can be an outstanding student leader.

Getting involved on campus and making a difference has many benefits. For senior Tierra Hooker, that involvement has been the gateway for many opportunities throughout her college career. Hooker has been able to balance her academics as well as maintain the many different leadership positions she currently holds on campus.

The Game Room is a place on campus where students can come and enjoy their time before, between or after classes while mingling with their friends and peers. Located on the first floor of the Miron Student Center (MSC) in a prime, central location for students, this is a great recreational area for members of the Kean community to enhance their connections with each other and enjoy the entertainment that is offered.

Within their walls, are students like Hassan Mahmood, a current marketing major who splits his time between classes and work to build up his very own business, Wild Lands, a clothing company currently located in Union, New Jersey.

Greek Life is a great way to become more involved on campus to establish better connections at Kean like no other. Kean University is home to 15 fraternities, 15 Sororities, and 1 Co-Ed organization which have something for all interests. Students who have had the chance to successfully cross into their respected organizations have nothing but positive things to say about their entire experience as well as what to look forward to in the future.

Their goals are to get outside and get moving to see what natural wonders New Jersey and the surrounding area has to offer. Leadership is more than just a title or a position in an organization. It is about actions and how people influence others to become the best version of themselves. The Leadership Institute offers a platform through the Center for Leadership and Service where students can practice their leadership skills and work well with their fellow peers. The Leadership Institute offers a program called L.E.A.D. (Leadership Education and Development) where students can earn all the benefits of the Leadership Institute in just seven weeks.

The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) is a non-profit organization that focuses on individuals with exceptionalities and is dedicated to improving their educational outcomes, as well as erasing the stigma that surrounds them. They have a chapter at Kean known as the KUCEC, which is a community comprised of students that promote and dedicated to the advancing of the success of children with exceptionalities and disabilities.

The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is an honor society at Kean and other universities that focuses on helping students become leaders of today and prepare for their future. Luke Agojo, the current president of the society, brought the NSLS to Kean University and is looking forward to continuing to help students work toward their future goals.

Kean Dance Marathon (KDM) is an event hosted by the Greek Senate every spring semester to raise funds for the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ. It is a 12 hour long dance marathon in which members of the Kean community dance in place for the children that cannot themselves. Every year, the fundraising total from the last is surpassed, with this past year's total being the largest at $54,175.51 all #ForTheKids.

Abbreviated "UNA-USA" for the United Nations Association of the United States of America is a group made up of chapters around the country, with the mission of supporting and advancing the United Nation's global initiatives.

Getting involved on campus is one of the many ways college students can make their college experience more memorable. This is something Kayla Asare, a senior at Kean University, knows well. Not only is she the current Chapter President of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, but she also serves as the Student Trustee for Kean University's Board of Trustees.A Board of Trustees is an elected group of people who are responsible for managing an organization. Kean University has a Board of Trustees made up of 15 members, all appointed by the Governor of New Jersey. Each year, a Student Trustee representative is picked to work alongside the Board of Trustees. Asare was this year's pick, having learned of the chance to become a Student Trustee from one of her professors while working for Kean Hall.
