Last years’ incoming freshmans interested to see what Kean University has to offer The Cougar's Byte
The concept of pursuing dreams is an action to be respected and admired. Brianna Ziegler, a sophomore commercial recreation major, has pursued her ambitions with bravery and confidence. Ziegler realized from early on that she was physically stronger than majority of the girls in her age group. She always had an extremely competitive nature and enjoyed contact sports. “Every year I would arm wrestle my friend Patrick. We always had a good match and alternated winning, but it wasn’t until the eighth grade that he mentioned I should go out for the football team.”
On April 21, 2015, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. the student occupational therapy association, affectionately known as SOTA, invited Jack Ballos and Steve Brigham to Kean University. As a part of Occupational Therapy Month, they hosted a screening of Jack Ballos’ award-winning documentary, Destiny’s Bridge.
It is hard to become involved on campus when there is an overwhelming amount of options and sometimes students decide to not even bother joining a club. There is also the question of, “How do I even begin to find the clubs and organizations that is right for me?” Well, the answer is easy! All university organizations are listed on Cougar Link along with meeting schedules and upcoming events. Everything from Greek Life, to heritage societies, to intramural sports are popular at Kean University—but there are some groups directed at those with particular interests.

The 17 Street in Newark, New Jersey [NJ], will be gaining a new neighbor shortly. Kean University’s Iota Phi Theta recently purchased a lot during Newark’s Valentine’s Day land sale. But it is not for what one may think; 17 Street will not be gaining a fraternity for a neighbor. The plan is to build a house on the vacant lot and then hand over the keys to the rent-free house to a homeless family unknown to the Iotas.
