On a cool and crisp January afternoon, students, faculty, alumni and students from other schools patiently waited in a lengthy line that stretched throughout the outer hallway of Kean University's Harwood Arena. Two tall, grey metal detectors adjacent to three plastic tables were in front of the pathway of the students and faculty, accompanied by multiple police officers anticipating to check in students' bags and personal belongings, as the audience members awaited the amusement and entertainment that their event would bring.

Kean University's Involvement Center is hosting an informational campus-wide week for students to learn about the 170 student groups and organizations across Kean's three campuses: Kean Ocean, Kean-Wenzhou. and the Union campus. Titled "Involvement Week", students will be exposed to finding out about the various and diverse organizations on campus.

Friday, Dec. 8, Wenzhou Kean University Student Association (WKUSA) celebrated its second annual End of the Semester Dinner. The dinner had a big turn out as all of the students had participated in the event.

Tuesday, Dec. 5, the members of Sigma Beta Chi and Nu Delta Pi offered hair cutting and shaving services for $10 in the Greek Lounge of the Miron Student Center. The event served as a follow-up fundraiser to No-Shave November, a national wide movement that spreads cancer awareness. The proceeds are going towards the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, New Jersey.

It's about that time again, and if you're a college student, you know we are not talking about the holidays, we mean finals. We hate to be that person but it's happening. Luckily, finals will be a little sweeter with Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and Starbucks. The PRSSA is partnering again with Starbucks at the Nancy Thomas Library, first floor. They will be offering two fun holiday drinks for only a limited time. These drinks will help benefit the chapter during the upcoming finals week.

It is that time of the semester--finals season. December can be one of the most stressful months of the fall semester as students are trying to cram for tests, hand in papers last minute, and finish all projects. All of these can be overwhelming, so Kean University students do their best to host events where students can just take a breather and relax.

Everyone knows the saying, "Men are from Mars and women are from Venus..." Monday, Dec. 4, in the Little Theater of the Miron Student Center (MSC), Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Women of Excellence (WoE) and Men of Excellence (MoE) put that saying to the test. The event Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus, was a panel discussion made up of selected members of PRSSA, WoE, and MoE.

Every year, Delta Phi Epsilon (DPhiE) Sorority hosts Deepher Dude, a male pageant show where money and awareness is raised for cystic fibrosis. All funds that were made during this pageant directly goes to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF), one of the three charities DPhiE donates to every year. CFF is a non-funded organization that conducts research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects various organs including the lungs, pancreas and kidneys.

Though the Kean Dance Marathon Hype Day occurred in October, the real Kickoff to Kean Dance Marathon season happened on the afternoon of Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017. During college hour from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m., games, performances and informational sessions about the coveted 12-hour dance marathon dedicated to raising money for the Children's Specialized Hospital were offered to the students and faculty of Kean University.

On Monday, Nov. 20 around 7 p.m. in the Cougar's Den, music filled the area. Students eating outside of the lounge immediately looked over and wondered what event would take place. That night, the Poetry Club hosted its Bars For Blessings event, which was an open mic event where they performed spoken word poetry or music and raised money to create winter care packages for the homeless.

On Thursday, Nov. 16, Kean University hosted a book signing on Ian Volner's biography of Michael Graves, the American architect. Volner's biography of Michael Graves highlighted his life, travels and achievements. The book signing took place at the Green Lane Academic Building (GLAB) room 406 and the room filled with design and architecture majors of all sorts.
