Let's face it — we have all been longing for a Sunday full of football.
Remaining active can slide to the back burner for many students, especially with other responsibilities requiring more time and effort. However, both intramurals and recreation can keep students fit and competitive throughout the semesters in an extremely fun manner.
Imagine graduating from high school, a place where everyone knows each other and where it is easy to be involved. Then imagine stepping onto a campus like Kean University as a commuter where it is easier to simply attend class and go home. Kean University is an institution that prides itself in its capability to help commuters feel welcome and involved.
In need of a place to study, a place to relax or food to eat? The Miron Student Center (MSC) is a building that provides all of these necessities for its students, faculty and guests.
Kean University recognizes over 160 different clubs and organizations. These organizations are separated into the following eight categories: professional, service, cultural, recreational, religious, performance, governmental and special interest. All of the organizations are unique and have strong goals to better their community, themselves or personal skills.
Kean University is known for its many assets on campus, one being the Barnes & Noble bookstore. The Barnes & Noble bookstore for many years has served as a place for students to purchase Kean attire, books, food and daily essentials. The bookstore and its employees understand the need for the material they sell and aim to expand its collection of electronics and technological gear.
Athletics here at Kean is key to the development of each student involved. The role of student-athlete is donned with pride by each athlete, manifesting on the field through their exceptional effort and indomitable determination.
Kean University is an educational institution that prides itself on its ability to provide programs and areas for students to develop. With that being said, Kean is home to more than ten academic buildings that seek to implement skills needed by students.
The Office of African Studies and Concerned Black Personnel (CBP) hosted its 32nd Annual African Heritage Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, May 5 at Wilkins Theater to celebrate the accomplishments of Kean students with African descent.
Thursday, May 3 Kean University Top Knotch, held a day parade to showcase their group and offer students with a fun day on the warm day. Held outside of the Miron Student Center, the Top Knotch Day Parade offered fresh squeezed lemonade, food, popcorn, cotton candy, activities and performances by the KU Dolls. The event was funded by Student Organization.
Lawrence Douglas, the James J. Grosfeld Professor of Law, Jurisprudence and Social Thought at Amehurst College in Massachusetts, lectured to an audience composed of students and other members of the Kean community on the topic of justice and human rights.
This past Thursday, May 3, fraternity Nu Delta Pi and sorority Chi Upsilon Sigma teamed up to hold the 5th annual Lupus Ball which is an event to honor and raise awareness for people suffering with lupus.

In Room 353 of the Center for Academic Success (CAS) Wednesday, April 18, from 2:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., this class was just a little bit different, as four members of the Coyne Public Relations firm who are graduates of Kean University and former students of Sullivan, informed, answered questions and lectured to a class of 20-plus communications and public relations students about the everyday life of a PR employee and the realities of their positions.
