The Kean Federation of Teachers (KFT) has announced that it is offering a scholarship contest for all Kean students. Whether a student is full-time, part-time, undergraduate, or graduate, they can apply for this essay contest. However, students must have attended classes in the Fall 2017 semester and will be attending classes in the Spring 2018 semester in order to be eligible.

Tuesday Nov. 28, The Kean University Foundation participated in Giving Tuesday by raising money for the Kean University Relief Fund. In 24 hours, they were able to raise $7,060 to be donated towards the relief of areas and individuals of the Kean community, that have been hit with natural disasters in the past couple of months.

The CLA Career Development Workshop is coming to Kean University in Spring 2018, and sophomores and juniors can apply now. This will be the second year in a row that the College of Liberal Arts (CLA) hosts this workshop. It is a prime opportunity for students to get the essential preparation for moving toward their future goals and careers.

The Blank Slate Club plans to host an inclusive night of prose and poetry at the Rock N' Joe Restaurant Friday, Dec. 8, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. An event free of admission, members of the Blank Slate club will exhibit their written works to an audience filled with fans of spoken word.

The Health Services here at Kean University hope to serve its students and to inform them of opportunities that can benefit them mentally, physically and emotionally. On Wednesday Nov. 29, from 1 to 4 p.m. the Health Services will open services to students. The services will include free HIV testing, gonorrhea and chlamydia testing.

The KU Poetry Club is a creative writing group composed of individuals who are interested in music, spoken word and art. During the semester they hold six general body meetings where each member is encouraged to explore different styles of writing, techniques and prompts.

Yevgeny Kutik, a violinist from Russia, will appear at Kean Stage’s Enlow Recital Hall Friday, Nov. 3, 2017. He will perform Russian miniatures by a variety of composers, which holds dear to him and his family who immigrated to the United Stages in 1990. It was music that his mother packed into the family’s suitcases as they fled Russia. Kutik brought this to life on his 2014 album, "Music from the Suitcase: A Collection of Russian Miniatures," that debuted at number five on the Billboard Classical chart.

The women's swim team at Kean University will participate in its first and only home meet in the D'Angola Gymnasium Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017. This is an exciting moment for Kean Athletics as it marks the return of the women's swimming program. After being an inactive program for more than a decade, the women's swim team is now back in action.
