Black History Month is a time for the Kean community to get together and celebrate the accomplishments, achievements and struggles that many African American people went through. From Feb. 1 to Feb. 28, students can become engaged and involved in many different activities.

Kean University's Involvement Center is hosting an informational campus-wide week for students to learn about the 170 student groups and organizations across Kean's three campuses: Kean Ocean, Kean-Wenzhou. and the Union campus. The Kean University Foundation works to sponsor the education of Kean students ranging from incoming freshmen to undergraduates and graduate students. The scholarships available may be tied to specific majors at Kean or for any major. The requirements are based on academic merit.

Though the semester has just begun, students can get a break from the books and join Kean's Student Organization for a day of wintry fun, as it hosts a bus trip to Mountain Creek Resorts on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018. Those who are interested in attending the day-long trip are required to purchase a ticket from the Wilkins Theatre Box Office for the price of $40.

Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, come out to Harwood Arena to Meet the Greeks! Hosted by the Center for Leadership and Service (CLS), Meet the Greeks is a chance for those interested in Greek Life at Kean to get more information and be introduced to the different organizations. The event will be held from 5 to 10 p.m. The event is free for students with a valid Kean ID and $5 for alumni.

Research Days is set to take place on April 24-25 in the spring semester of 2018 in the STEM Building, and all students and faculty who are engaging in a research project are encouraged to join. This event has always been a positive experience for students and seeks to continue in such fashion next year.

Beginning Dec. 9, the Military & Veterans Club will be holding two charity drives. The first is for Operation Valor, a veterans homeless shelter. The second is for Rebuilding Warriors Raffle, a project that helps provide service dogs to veterans. Donations for these projects will be accepted in the Veterans lounge located in Willis Hall room 121.

Beginning in December, The Liberty Hall Museum will begin featuring its holiday programming. The programs are designed to celebrate the holiday season at Liberty Hall and explore the history of the holidays in the historic building. People of all ages are invited to come see what Liberty Hall has to offer during this festive time of year. There is something for everyone at Liberty Hall this season!
