With about 20 Greek organizations, Greek Life promotes scholars, involvement and, most importantly, sisterhood and brotherhood. Being in a sorority or fraternity can be extremely time consuming, especially when trying to balance college with Greek life. Two members of the Kean community share their experience with being both a student and a sorority sister.

Some take the college experience for granted because they forget past generations didn't have the same opportunity to attend or finish college. This results in many becoming first-generation college students. While it's a big responsibility, this is also an amazing opportunity for first-generation students.

Kean University offers many sports and intramural options, but there is one club that encompasses both. The Ski and Snowboard Club gives people a chance to explore something new by partaking in winter-based sports. This club is interested in welcoming new members with light and friendly competition.

The right to vote is something that hasn't always been accessible to everyone but, now that it is, many are not taking advantage of their right. Incoming generations see voting as a chore, thinking it's too hard or too late for them to register. Some even believe their singular vote will not make a change. Kean Voting Squad is here to prove them wrong.

Final’s week has passed! Now, the Kean community is preparing for commencement or enjoying their summer break before the fall semester. As exciting as the end of the semester is, getting through finals is a key part for all students in their college careers. As the weather continues to get warmer, spring sports at Kean are in full swing. With all of our athletics currently having more wins than losses, we have had a successful spring season and only plan on continuing this streak. All of the sports involved have been putting so much hard work and effort into this season, so let’s meet them!

Marketing EDGE has provided amazing scholarship opportunities for over 25 years, to aid students with their financial burdens, so they can focus their time on their academic studies. Between 1994-2021, $804,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 292 student recipients. Here at Kean, one of our very own marketing students was able to be a part of these statistics.

Helping out the community is a great act of kindness but sometimes people just don’t know where to start. If students are interested in helping out their community, then they should look into Cougars Volunteers.

As the month of November has rounded out to a close, the No Shave November Event has also concluded. Many students have heard of this event throughout the years, where men will spend the entire month of November without shaving, to support cancer awareness for men. The Kean University Police Department (KUPD) we're no strangers to this event, having participated in the past. The department was able to raise $1,000 for the event by the end of the month.

The 2021 freshmen class at Kean is very lucky to be able to enjoy their first year on campus after such a grueling year and a half online. This however, does not prevent them from having their own challenges as they try to adjust to college and life on campus. To provide some advice and helpful tips from those who were once in these freshmen’s shoes, an upperclassmen offered her words of wisdom.

With students returning to campus, sports at Kean University is in full swing and Women’s Volleyball is no exception. The girls have been doing amazing this season on and off of campus, giving their opponents a battle every-time they step onto the court. With only five more games left in their season, there's no telling what these Cougars will accomplish.

A music ensemble is known as a group of individuals who perform vocally or instrumentally together in a unified way. Kean’s music ensemble is the home of multiple sections, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber music for strings and winds, Chamber winds, and a Percussion Ensemble. Open to all students, music ensemble is a great way for students to explore their musical side and be a part of something amazing.

Surely all college students can agree that the possibility of not graduating on time or veering off the path of their academic path, is one of the scariest thoughts. Going at it alone or with one advisor who is swamped with other students can be stressful and lead to mistakes in class selection or credit amount. This is why Kean has a division specifically for helping students with a timely graduation.

When going into college, not everyone knows what field they want to study or they are struggling to transfer credits from another school within their major. For these students Kean University provides the Center for Advising, Persistence and Success (CAPS). Here, undeclared freshman, sophomores and transfer students can receive advisement from their CAPS advisors.
