Undeterred by the move to remote education, Kean Research Days proceeded as scheduled, going live online April 28. In lieu of in-person festivities, a special guest speaker, the faculty research mentor and undergraduate researcher of the year, awards for event design, extensive poster and oral presentations and further information were each honored and detailed through a new page on the Kean University website.

The Michael Graves College is having their first completely online senior portfolio review Thursday, May 14. For the event, students from the different majors under the Michael Graves College have their work submitted to be viewed online through Instagram, LinkedIn and the Michael Graves College Review website.

The Greek Senate has officially elected their new executive board members for the 2020-2021 academic year. The new members promise to fulfill the mission to unite the Kean Greek community, continuing the legacy of the members who came before.

During this challenging time, Student Health Services (SHS) remains accessible to all matriculated Kean University students. They will continue to operate on a remote telehealth model until at least the conclusion of the Summer I session. As Kean settles into remote learning, the university's classes and student and professional organizations aim to expand their meetings to include not just necessary lectures but events as well. The Kean community's objectives, to immerse students in collaborative events for learning, networking, socializing and promoting culture as well as academic success, are not to be slowed down by the transition online.

On Monday, March 9, Kean University recently received one of the largest donations from Professor Emerita Dorothy Grant Hennings, Ed.D.' H10. The gift will help fund a scholarship which will be named in honor of her late husband and biology Professor Emeritus George Hennings, Ed.D.' H10 to support students that are studying in the science and science education fields. The contribution will also include the Centennial Fund Opportunity Scholarship which is open to high achieving, low income students from all majors.

As Kean University students continue to adjust to remote learning, a whole new set of challenges await them online. While classes will not meet in person for the remainder of the Spring 2020 semester, remote assignments and the lack of a physical schedule on campus necessitate that students take charge of their own deadlines and productivity.

On Thursday, Feb. 13, in the North Academic Avenue Building, Kean University presented the most recent speaker in their Distinguished Lecture Series. This month's speaker was Martin Luther King III, who spoke to the Kean community about the injustices many in the community are currently facing as well as the importance of voting and overcoming voter suppression.

Every year, the organizations at Kean University honor its diverse student population and its rich African American history by celebrating Black History Month during February. Starting with the kickoff setting everything into motion and an appearance by the distinguished Martin Luther King III, Kean has a lot to offer this month.

It is the dawn of a new year. On Thursday, Jan. 23, Student Organization and the Asian Studies Program hosted the Lunar New Year Celebration that officially kicked off the Year of the Rat. For attendees there was food, prizes and performances. All attendees enjoyed the event while also learning new and fascinating discoveries about Asian culture.

Every semester, Greek Senate hosts Meet the Greeks which brings together students, faculty, staff members and alumni back to Harwood Arena for a night filled with activities, music, performances and learning what Greek Life is all about from each organization on campus. Spring 2020's Meet the Greeks will take place Thursday, Jan. 30.

Kean Research Days 2020, happening in the spring of 2020, is just around the corner. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) hosts the annual Research Days event at Kean University. Acting Director Susan Gannon and Assistant Director Reenat Munshi say the research days is a great way for students to network and showcase their research in non-competitive environment.

On Thursday, Nov. 21, political strategist and commentator David Axelrod visited Kean University for the Distinguished Lecture Series, an ongoing effort to host the public sphere's news-making intellectuals. His lecture, and a followup Q&A, were held in the STEM Auditorium at 4:30 p.m.
