Kean University is home to many graduate programs for students to expand their knowledge even further. One of the graduate programs is the M.A. in English Writing Studies. This program is designed for students who are looking to further improve and practice their writing skills. In addition to learning about topics such as art and theory and how they relate to English writing.

A year into the affects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kean University community now looks toward their path back to campus and coming together again safely and effectively. With the numbers of vaccinated persons rising and the knowledge of the virus increasing, the university is looking towards returning to in-person classes in the coming Fall 2021 semester.

The Kean Counseling, Accessibility, and Alcohol and Other Drug Services (KCC) hosted a virtual mindfulness event on Wednesday, March 17. This workshop is one of many in a series that will continue weekly until the end of the semester. Students who attended were able to de-stress themselves with meditation exercises that help gain control of achieving total wellness.

As we move quickly through our Spring 2021 semester, the time has come once again to begin thinking about registration and the schedule for the upcoming semester. It can be difficult to navigate KeanWise and to pick courses, not only for incoming students but for the students doing it remotely. Kean has implemented a new student planning program to aid in making scheduling courses a little easier.

On March 19, Kean P.U.L.S.E Programming Board for Unique and Lively Students (P.U.L.S.E) hosted their first Roots: Tiny Desk Concert on Youtube Live in celebration of Black History Month. Both students and staff were welcome to watch Kean students share their roots through a variety of performances from dance, spoken word and song.

One of the most important parts of graduation is what a student will wear as they cross the stage into their life moving forward. A beautiful dress, heels, pressed suit, and dress shoes are only half of the attire graduates will be sporting on one of the most important days of their lives. The graduation regalia that worn over-top of the primed outfits, are a staple of this momentous occasion.

The Federal Work Study (FWS) provides part time employment to students, on and off campus, with financial need. The earnings these students make are intended to meet the cost of their education. The program encourages the students receiving FWS assistance to also participate in community service activities.

As a part of Women’s History Month, Kean organizations hosted an event celebrating the diverse achievements of women who made changes in New Jersey. Collaboratively, the hosts shed light on many important female figures and spoke about their achievements, while educating Kean students about the resources available to them on campus.

On Friday, March 12, Residential Student Services (RSS) in collaboration with the National Council of Negro Women, Inc (NCNW) hosted a virtual yoga session via Zoom. This session allowed attendees to relax after their classes and was open to all students who wanted to expand their physical and spiritual wellness.

Beginning in March, the Kean Wellness Center will be starting a new monthly workshop series called The Counselor’s Couch. Each month, Counseling Center staff will present a topic related to mental health and wellness, followed by interactive and supportive discussions around the content. The series will take place on Wednesdays to support Kean University President Repollet’s Wellness Wednesday Initiative, with the goal of partnering up with student groups and offices to engage the entire Kean community.
