The Kean Gospel Choir is looking forward to its next big competition, the McDonald's Gospelfest. This will be the fourth year that the choir performs at this large fest which includes choirs from all over New York and New Jersey. The Gospelfest is taking place at the Prudential Center, an enormous venue located in Newark, New Jersey. The event is transpiring Saturday, May 11 where doors open at 4 p.m. and the competition starts at 5 p.m.

In regard to the student body, interested individuals will have the opportunity to audition to sing the national anthem during undergraduate and graduate commencement Monday, April 22 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. in the Miron Student Center (MSC) Little Theatre.

Peer Educators work hand-in-hand with the administration of Community Standards and the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drugs Task Force (AToD) to provide information to Kean students promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Peer educators work closely with AToD to create events to make Kean University a safe place for students to be.

Kean Dance Marathon (KDM), the Greek Senate’s annual 12-hour apex of a year’s worth of fundraising efforts, will be taking place April 12 in Harwood Arena. From noon to midnight, students will be able to experience a day of music, activities and charity all to benefit the Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, New Jersey.

On Saturday, April 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. students will have the chance to visit the Bronx Zoo and all of its offerings.

Kean’s Pre-Medical Pre-Dental Association is giving students the chance to witness a live pediatric orthopedic surgery. The group has organized a bus trip April 5 to the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, where students will be able to watch the operation and tour other exhibits afterward.

Disney and Reverend Rob Schenck to discuss their documentary "The Armor of Light" and its relation to whether one can indeed be pro-gun and pro-life in today's society. The two presented as part of Kean's Distinguished Lecture Series March 6 in the Science, Technology and Mathematics (STEM) Auditorium.

Kean University students are given the opportunity to showcase their creativity and talents in many forms. With that being said, the School of English Studies department and Kean Chapter of Sigma Tau Delta are calling for all writing and poetry enthusiasts to enter the annual poetry contest. With another year, comes another chance for students to display their poetry. The award ceremony for the Fourth Annual Poetry Contest will take place Thursday, April 25.
