On Wednesday, August 30, Kean University hosted the Quad Food Truck Festival, this event was open to all students. From 5 - 7 p.m., long lines surrounded each food truck as students were excited to try the different cuisines.
Students were able to enjoy a range of foods such as delicious Peruvian food from The Lomo Truck, piping hot wood fire pizza from Pizza Vita, and genuine Filipino cuisine from the Twelve food truck. For participants with a sweet tooth, Kiersten’s Creations was the perfect dessert truck to end the evening. Kiersten’s Creations offered wonderful, sweet treats such as root beer floats and ice cream sandwiches that were impossible to resist.
Junior and Journalism Major Dyquan Waters expressed how thrilled he was to taste new foods and support domestic businesses.
“I look most forward to … trying new foods and also trying local businesses, seeing what they have to offer,” said Waters.
Other students such as Sam Altenburg, a senior at Kean, shared that her favorite food truck to eat from was Kiersten’s Creations, she really looked forward to the delicious root beer floats.
As many things were occurring on campus, the Quad Food Truck Festival served as a place for everyone to socialize and enjoy great food. Throughout the day, students were embarking on their new college journey as they did move-ins and Kean faculty and staff could be seen helping students. Other students were utilizing the soccer and volleyball fields to interact with friends and enjoy the outdoor events. At some point, most students found some time to come out to the food trucks and grab a bite to eat.
The day was filled with fun and exciting activities for all existing and incoming Kean students to appreciate and create memories. Many students looked forward to the flavorful food from the food trucks and the turnout certainly reflected that.
