Kean University has a mix of university-owned establishments and recognizable franchises. Since Kean is known for its diversity, it’s clear why they’ve diversified their food options. With many food choices on campus, students share their favorite Kean University meal options. 

Students have many cuisines to choose from. The Kean community can purchase food through credit/debit cards, flex dollars, or Cougar dollars. Meal plans are flexible and unique, which means each student can have a plan that works best for them.

With Kean University being home to so many students, everyone has options for what they’d like to eat. One popular eatery is Jersey Mike’s Subs, a sub shop located in the Miron Student Center. Justina Dejesus enjoys going here for her sandwich.

“The sandwich at Kean that fixes all my problems is the Buffalo Chicken Cheese Steak,” said Dejesus.

Smashburger is another restaurant located in the Miron Student Center. This establishment is known for its burgers, milkshakes, fries, and chicken. 

“My favorite thing to eat on campus is the tender meal with fries and a Sprite,” Julian Basalatan said. 

For Mexican cuisine, students will order food from Sono. Sono is a university-owned restaurant that sells fresh ensaladas, bowls, burritos, quesadillas, and tacos. Jake Pierro is a fan of the eatery’s bowl option.

“My favorite meal is a bowl with white rice, black beans, queso, salsa, and sour cream. Especially with the chips as a fork,” said Pierro.

Piccola Italia is another university-owned establishment that specializes in pasta dishes. This option allows students to have personalized orders. Piccola Italia allows its customers to customize their choice of pasta, sauce, and toppings. 

“My favorite food on campus is penne pasta with peppers, onions, and garlic in an oil sauce,” said Courtney Rickert.

Auntie Anne’s is an American pretzel shop located in the Miron Student Center at Kean University. It is popular among students because it’s a quick stop for a yummy snack. 

“I love the pretzel bits, but my go-to snack is the cinnamon nuggets and blueberry lemonade,” said Adrian Cedeno.

Cougar’s Den is a unique restaurant owned by Kean University. They serve a variety of different foods and customizable smoothies. Janayssa Arcia’s favorite meal is available in this eatery.

“My all-time favorite food is the garden salad from Cougar’s Den with grilled tilapia on top,” said Arcia.
