On Saturday, April 29, Kean University PRISM will host its second annual Pride Prom. At 7 p.m., students will have the opportunity to attend the event being held in the Kean University STEM Atrium. With a night full of dancing, partying, and fun, students won’t want to miss this unforgettable night.
“This year, we wanted to make lightning strike twice. Pride Prom will be better than last year!” said Rashaad Couloote, president of Kean University PRISM.
Kean University PRISM, in partnership with the Student Government Association of Kean University and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, is excited to promote this year’s theme, Masquerade Ball. While this is the theme, students aren’t required to wear masks.
“We thought of this idea because, for most people and their families, LGBT Pride can be taboo. Not everyone has the chance to be themselves and enjoy their youthful moments,” said Kean University PRISM on Cougar Link.
Pride Prom was formed to give recognition to LGBTQIA+ members at Kean University. In this safe space, students can experience a prom they didn’t get to have in their high school years. This prom will be a fun, exciting event for anyone looking to express themselves in the company of others like them.
“We worked hard on this and are always looking to give the students in the LGBTQIA+ community something to look forward to every year,” Couloote said.
This Masquerade-themed prom is free and open to everyone. To attend the event, students must make reservations before Friday, April 21, at 5 p.m. or until the spots are full. Students are also allowed to bring one outside guest when reserving their spot.
Students looking to attend can secure their spot through the Pride Prom Registration Form. For more information, students can email Rashaad Couloote at coulootr@kean.edu or call the Office of Student Government at (908) 737-5250.
