Commuters tend to experience college differently than residential students. While commuters travel between classes and home, residents get to live and breath the campus experience. Kean University ensures that commuters can always have a way to connect and partake in campus life.
Kean's main campus provides its community with access to well-designed buildings, eateries, and scenery. As people walk the campus, they will likely see captivating visuals of architecture and wildlife including deer, squirrels, and birds. On campus, there are many places that commuters can take advantage of.
The Commuter Resource Center (CRC) is a place where commuters can go to relax, study, and socialize. The purpose of the CRC is to enhance commuter's quality of life while providing them with support, resources, and programs. The CRC is in the Nancy Thompson Library, located on the first floor behind Starbucks.
The Nancy Thompson Library is another great option for commuters. The library is a great place for students to get work done, especially because of its numerous resources.
Located in the center of campus, the library offers a huge variety of print and online collections of books, e-books, periodicals, and other documents. In addition, students, staff, and faculty have access to the computer stations and printers located on all three floors.
The Nancy Thompson Library provides students with spaces to relax by themselves or with friends. Commuters have the option to reserve individual study cubicles and study rooms. Students can also grab refreshments from Starbucks or the vending machines stored within the library.
Aside from Starbucks, Kean has numerous eateries on campus where commuters can grab something to eat. Eateries on campus include:
- Auntie Anne's
- Barnes & Noble Cafe

These food spots can be found in the Miron Student Center (MSC), the Green Lane Academic Building, New Upper Residence Hall, and Cougar Hall.
MSC has more to offer than food options. The student center has a game room and a technology lounge that is perfect for commuters looking to relax or get assignments done.
According to the Kean University website, the MSC Game Room provides students with a fun getaway through different games and activities. The game room also allows commuters to meet new people and form friendships.
The Technology Lounge is located in the Miron Student Center Atrium, Room 105. In the lounge, all current Kean members are able to rent a laptop at the self-service kiosk. Commuters can also recharge their phone, laptop, and other devices at one of the many charging outlets.
