How does anyone make friends anymore? College can be a whirlwind when dealing with new classes, different environments, and much more. Kean University makes it easy for students to make new friends on campus.
As freshmen enter college, they have to adapt to campus life while also building connections with their peers. Cailyn Everitt, a freshman who dorms, shared how she felt about meeting new people.
“It hasn't been hard for me to make friends at Kean. I've been able to make friends with a lot of different people and I think a big part was coming in already knowing everyone from leadership,” said Everitt.
While meeting new people can be hard, some find the experience to be easier at Kean. Kean Cougar Joey Ippolito finds it simpler to make connections in college compared to high school.
“The thing about college is that no one is judging you, and that is why everyone is so much nicer than in high school,” said Ippolito.
In the beginning it may be difficult to make friends, but it is imperative for students to get to know the people around them. Freshman Mauricio Villegas understands that there are others like him looking for friendships.
“It has been easy for me to make friends so far because everyone here is new and other people are trying to make new friends as well,” said Villegas.
Kean University wants to ensure that people never feel alone. To do so, the university suggests that students:
Attend any daily events found on Cougar Link
Join one of the 160 different clubs and organizations
Get involved through volunteer opportunities
Introduce yourself to people in classes
Go to the game room in the Miron Student Center
Making friends in college doesn't have to be hard, but does take a positive mindset and the right drive. So get out there and just be you!
