Ever felt like something was missing by not being a part of a college sports team? The comradery, the bonding, the competitiveness, the fun. If so, then look no further than Kean’s Recreation and Intramurals. A place where anyone, not just athletes, can enjoy a fun way to stay in shape and engage in on-campus sports activity.
The Recreation Department hosts a variety of classes available throughout the week, along with the fitness center facilities provided, these include:
Pool
Arena
Indoor track
Fitness center
Weight room
When asked what Recreation and Intramurals provides for students, Events Assistant Daniel Sires said, “A chance to enjoy sport for fun and competitively with a league structure.”
The D’Angelo weight room is equipped with Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, three plasma televisions, a surround sound stereo system and all cardio equipment offers individual cable-ready televisions screens.
Regardless of their ability level, Intramurals gives all students the chance to participate in a number of sports. The sports offered are:
Flag football
Tennis
Dodgeball
Basketball
Special events and open recreation sports include:
Volleyball
Indoor Soccer
Softball
Bench-a-thon
Turkey trot
In regards to how students can sign up for games, Sires explained, “Students can make an account using their school email at imleagues.com. There they can create/join a team and also see the schedule for all different events.”
