The Kean University Board of Trustees is currently looking for the next Alternate, Non-voting, Student Trustee. Students at Kean University may now begin sending in applications to fill the position. All applications must be received by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs by 2 p.m. on Friday, March 6.
The Board of Trustees is the representative body of Kean University. They are a council of fifteen members who come together to discuss and vote on important matters that affect the Kean community. By New Jersey state law and Kean University Board of Trustees policy, two student representatives are appointed to the Board of Trustees in order to allow the students to have their opinions and positions voiced during deliberations.
The two representatives that are appointed are a Voting Student Trustee and an Alternate, Non-voting, Student Trustee. Both students are expected to serve two terms, first as an Alternate Non-voting Student Trustee, and then as a Voting Student Trustee. Alternate Non-Voting Student Trustees can become Voting Student Trustees if a vacancy occurs in the Voting Student Trustee position. If a vacancy occurs in the Alternate Non-Voting Student Trustee position, an election will be held within 60 days to fill the vacancy.
The applications currently accepted are for the Alternate Non-Voting Student Trustee position.
To be eligible to apply for the Alternate Non-Voting Student Trustee position, students must meet certain requirements. They are as follows:
- The Student needs to be a full-time, matriculated student, in good standing with no history of any student conduct violations.
- The Student must be at least 18 years old.
