On Thursday, Feb. 15, students had the opportunity to relax and unwind after a stressful month and a half back at school at the Welcome Back Party hosted by Greek Senate.
The funds raised from ticket sales went to the Kean Dance Marathon (KDM) which raises funds for the Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, New Jersey to help offset the medical costs for the children's treatments.
"The Welcome Back Party is something that they do every semester and they've been doing it for years. It's always a great thing in the beginning of the semester because everybody is able to come out and just have a great time and de-stress. It's a good time, for a good cause," commented Victoria Kimberlin-Orsini, president of Sigma Beta Chi.
The party was the first one back at Downs Halls since the Child Care and Development Center officially moved out on Monday, Feb. 12. Many students remarked how nostalgic it was to be back at their favorite venue.
"Honestly, it brings back memories because when I first joined Greek Life, everything was in Downs Hall, and these past couple of semesters they've been redoing it. It's exciting to be back and it brings back memories of KDM two years ago–it's reminiscent," commented Ines Protasio, Secretary of Theta Phi Alpha.
"Everything was in Hardwood Arena the past few years, so it's been a little bit of an adjustment. I feel like Downs Hall–since it is smaller–is a little more intimate in a way where you get to be with everyone. It's not as widespread, so you really get the life and the vibe of everyone and everything that's going on," remarked Erika Bott, Greek Senate Representative of Theta Phi Alpha.
The vibes were certainly great, attributed by the high energy of the students, live DJ and mood setting lighting. The Welcome Back Party marked many more fun nights at Downs Hall to come!
