Almost one year ago on May 28, 2016, Wenzhou-Kean University (WKU) celebrated its largest milestone to date – the graduation of its first cohort of students – in the Grand Theatre at the heart of the City of Wenzhou. 187 students majoring in English, accounting, computer science and finance were prepared to explore their futures with something that no student before them could claim. Whether their plans were to further their education or enter their profession, the WKU Class of 2016 was prepared to leave their mark on the world.
One year later we asked the students how they were doing and what they were up to. Approximately 55% are in graduate school and 39% have begun working in their field. Of the students pursuing a Master’s degree, almost 90% have traveled outside of China’s borders and taken root in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and the United States at universities such as the University of Exeter, Boston College, University of Tasmania, DePaul University, Drexel University, Fordham University, University of Edinburgh, Columbia University and the list continues. For those that decided to enter the workforce, they are working for banks, accounting firms, technology companies, schools and government organizations throughout China.
Throughout this special edition, you will be able to learn more about some of these WKU alumni and the impact Wenzhou-Kean University had on them.
