The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) promotes research within the Kean community.
As noted on its website, ORSP "provides leadership and support to assist faculty and staff to compete successfully for external funding to conduct research and scholarship, engage in creative work and advance student learning."
Every year ORSP hosts what is called Research Days, which "is an annual celebration of Kean faculty and students' research, innovation and creative work," said ORSP Assistant Director Reenat Hasan.
ORSP will host its annual Research Days on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 and Wednesday, April 26, 2017.
Research Days is where students from both the undergraduate and graduate level, as well as faculty members, present their research work to the community of the university.
Besides Research Days, ORSP also hosts "multiple workshops on grant writing, Institutional Review Broad (IRB) and prestigious fellowships opportunities," Hasan commented.
If any student wants to be involved with research, students can do so by picking a research area and working with a faculty member.
"If they do not have a preferred faculty member, ORSP can help them match with a faculty member conducting research in that particular area," Hassan said.
Students of any major can take part of student Research Days. Some tips to conduct research successfully is to not only have knowledge in whichever subject a student chooses, but to have interest in the subject. Students who have not participated in past Research Days should speak with a junior or senior who has been involved in a research project.
"The main mission of ORSP is to promote a research culture to enhance [the] student learning experience, support faculty research and creative work and encourage faculty-student collaboration on research projects," Hasan said.
If any student would like to learn more about ORSP, contact the office through email at orsp@kean.edu or by phone at 908-7373-3461. Students can also visit the ORSP office located in Townsend Hall room 130.
Hasan mentioned that Research Days allows students and faculty members to "learn, experience and celebrate the research work conducted by fellow students and faculty members."
