On Wednesday, October 26, 2016, the results of the Freshman Class of 2020 election were posted on Cougar Link.

The Class of 2020 is housed under Student Organization, the full-time undergraduate student government.

The results are as follows: 

President: Galaxistar Douglas

Vice President: Scott (Marius) Price

Treasurer: Dihzae Bailey

Secretary: Isaac Taylor

Representative: Ashanti Lyking

A Bronze Leadership Institute student and cell and molecular biology major, Douglas had many reasons to run in the election, one of them being her desire to get involved on campus.

"In high school I never was able to be involved because it was mainly a popularity contest," Douglas said. "I wanted to actually get involved in college and also in EOF. They were saying that people in EOF are looked down [on] and I wanted to show people that EOF [students] can be leaders as well." 

EOF is the Educational Opportunity Fund, which provides workshops for financially disadvantaged students. 

Her experience really began when she started running, with the help of other people and her mom, with campaigning strategies. 

"She went overboard," Douglas said. "She bought a lot of cupcakes. She event bought a huge cupcake rack and so that helped a lot because we gave out cupcakes and were like 'Vote for Galaxi and the rest of my team'."

Douglas' goal while holding this position is to provide opportunities for students to have fun while also working towards their degrees. 

She has not conversed with the other members of the freshman class executive board yet, but the group is planning to meet on Friday, November 5, 2016.
