Kean University students are invited to venture into New York City with the Catholic Newman Club on Saturday, September 24, 2016.

The day will be spent in northern Manhattan with a tour of the Cloisters Museum and a visit to the St. Frances Cabrini Shrine. The museum is part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and stands as its medieval-inspired division.

"The Cloisters museum looks out onto the Hudson River and is beautiful, especially in the fall," commented Kimberly Joy Pacis, who is President of the Catholic Newman Club and a junior psychology/occupational therapy track major, and Anissa Kurian, Vice President of the organization and speech pathology major. "There is a lot of history to learn there about our local area and our faith. The St. Cabrini Shrine is a unique place to explore and pray..."

To attend, tickets cost $10 each, and no more than 2 tickets can be bought per ID. Lunch will also be provided. Those attending the trip can look forward to a boxed Manhattan Bagel meal, which will include a sandwich, drink and snacks.

Those going on this excursion should arrive a few minutes prior to 8:30 a.m. at the Wilkins Theatre trolley stop as the bus will leave promptly at that time. Attendees are expected to arrive back on campus around 2:30 p.m.

"We have been planning this trip for about a year and we are so excited. Anyone is welcome to attend the trip," Pacis stated, "...and no matter whether you’re a serious Catholic or just love history and adventures, it will be a great event to check out."

Tickets will be available to purchase until Monday, September 19, 2016, at the Wilkins Theatre box office. Before buying tickets, students must fill out a Student Activity Participation Application (SAPA) Forms and bring it to the box office. Forms are located on Cougar Link.

When purchasing a ticket, a student must bring the completed SAPA Form and his or her student ID.

"We are expecting it to be...a great day trip to enjoy before the semester starts to get too busy," Pacis stated on behalf of her club. "We hope to meet new friends and other students who might be interested in joining Newman!"
