The Center for Leadership and Service (CLS) located on the 2nd floor of the Miron Student Center (MSC) will host a total of four blood drives this fall semester.
At any given time, it is safe to say there are 10 pints of blood coursing through the human body. Seems like a lot, right?
Not everyone has 10 pints of blood though. Why not donate a pint to a person in need? Sure, the body needs those pints, but it can function without a pint every once in a while, 56 days to be exact.
If able, students should take the time to donate blood because while they need the blood coursing through their veins, someone else needs it more.
Donated blood is used in the face of varying circumstances. According to the New York Blood Center, everyday an estimated 40,000 pints are transfused in America. Those thousands and thousands of pints are used for deliveries, transplants, burn and trauma victims and cancer patients.
From the moment a donor steps foot into the room, the entire process should take roughly 30 to 45 minutes to complete.
