In the biology department and working on outdated microscopes? Does the athletic program have enough money to travel? Working on a theatre performance and the supplies are not in the budget for this year’s performance? Here’s the chance to get the funding needed for projects like these and more!
KeanLift is Kean University’s brand new crowdfunding platform. Crowdfunding is a way for faculty, staff and students to fundraise for projects that may not able to be funded through the University.
In the past, KeanLift assisted the Occupational Therapy department and raised money for a bus making it possible to provide transportation for the Par Fore Youth Golf program. The Robert Busch School of Design crowdfunded for the Thinking Creatively Camp giving high school students interested in advertising design, graphic design, motion graphics, interior design, or industrial design the opportunity to work with Kean University professors and other professionals in the industry.
“The KeanLift appeal assisted the Thinking Creatively Design Camp by reaching and educating the next generation of creative thinkers,” said Rose Gonnella, Executive Director of the Robert Busch School of Design.
Both of these projects were made possible because of KeanLift and all of their teams’ collaborative efforts.
KeanLift is a web based platform that showcases and launches a project idea for fundraising support. During the closed phase of the campaign, a project leader will assemble a team. Each member will be responsible for sending emails and posting on social media about the specific project. Projects goals should be between $1,000-$10,000. Each project that is approved and featured on the KeanLift site will benefit Kean University and the larger community.
The first five projects will be assisted by the Kean University Foundation and ScaleFunder. ScaleFunder is a company that works with the University Foundation to develop the new website and specializes in crowdfunding projects.
