During National Volunteer Week from April 10 to 16, 2016, it is the time for volunteers to be thanked for participating in service projects and giving back to the community through service and volunteerism. Hence, Community and Volunteer Service Programs in the Center for Leadership and Service will highlight three of the hundreds of volunteers at Kean University.
Michael Gonzalez, Bryani Wheaton and Megan Campesi, these three volunteers have shown their dedication to service by being eager and hardworking during service trips. Each individual is unique in the way that they serve.
For example, Gonzalez, a freshman student majoring in biology, is always willing to play a leadership role when needed. He offers help to co-volunteers and has even guided them on how to do certain things at Habitat for Humanity.
Wheaton, senior criminal justice major, shows a lot of commitment by being punctual for service trips as a team player. At service projects, she communicates well with others and is always in a great mood.
Campesi, junior undeclared major, is eager and passionate about volunteer activities. She always shows up and does the best of her ability and completes each project with diligence.
Kean University chooses to show recognition for those volunteers by giving back to them, such as giving them treats and highlighting them in The Cougar’s Byte. All year long, all of the cougar volunteers participate in serving their community and work hard at each project by putting their best foot forward to help the surrounding communities.
The Community and Volunteer Service Programs will also have an event outside of the Miron Student Center to do giveaways and games for volunteers to participate in, as well as hand out donuts to volunteers with small thank you cards attached to them.
Come join the National Volunteer week and say thanks to all of the volunteers in Kean University! For more information, contact the Center for Leadership and Service by phone at 908-737-5170 or email at serve@kean.edu.
