Within the month of February, students of Kean University will have the privilege to witness Alice Walker’s masterpiece The Color Purple come to life on stage for a discounted rate.
For Saturday, February 6, 2016, and Saturday, February 13, 2016, Student Organization and Graduate and Part-time Student Council (GPSC) are offering a price of $25 a ticket, two tickets per student ID for GPSC and one ticket per student ID for Student Org.
If graduate students have not entirely claimed all tickets for the GPSC trip on February 6, 2016, remaining tickets will be made available for all students. When those tickets sell out, have no fear! More tickets will be available for purchase starting January 25, 2016. Tickets for both trips will be $25 a ticket and must be accompanied by a completed SAPA form which can be found via Cougar Link through The Office of Student Government’s profile under “forms”.
Walker’s Pulitzer Prize novel follows the life of a young African-American girl named Cecil and her experience of growing up poor and uneducated in the American south. Abused and destitute, Cecil overcomes her misfortune and starts life anew as a strong and independent woman away from her childhood home. Not only has the work won many awards, and has also been transcribed into a play, and now, a Broadway musical.
