For the entirety of the month of December, Liberty Hall Museum (LHM) will be hosting an afternoon tea party from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. for the general public as well as members of Liberty Hall Museum.
Afternoon Tea at LHM is a renowned tea service that begins with an assortment of pastries, scones, finger sandwiches, fresh fruit and ends with an intimate guided tour of the museum. Reservations are required for both non-members and members alike – tickets are $40 for non-members and $35 LHM members.
American writer Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “There is a great deal of poetry and fine sentiment in a chest of tea.” Tea drinking is not only good for the body, but also good for the mind and spirit – many cultures have traditions based solely around drinking tea. Speaking of traditions, this weekly event is in celebration to Mary Alice Kean, who was the last lady of the house.
Another holiday treat sponsored by Liberty Hall Museum throughout this month is their Saturday sessions of gingerbread house making for children. Reservations are required for both sessions; 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.to 2:30 p.m. All materials for building are provided by LHM and tickets for this workshop are $20, admitting one child and one adult.
LHM was built on the cusp of the American Revolution and has over 200 years of American history held within the walls. It opened to the public in the year 2000 with a specific mission, “To create a self-sufficient historic center designed around Liberty Hall, providing a unique experience that is educational, entertaining and exciting.”
