A museum is more than just a building. What makes a museum different than the surrounding slabs of concrete is it’s a place with learning opportunities around every corner that plays to everyone’s interests.
Students can take the time to expand their knowledge on Saturday, December 12, 2015, in New York City through the Museum of Natural History Bus Trip. The museum outing will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is hosted by the Biotechnology Club and Earth Science Club.
“This trip is a great opportunity to meet new people and get involved while having a really great time,” said Biotechnology Club President Laina Magnani, junior mathematics education major.
This day spent in a New York City museum will cost $5 per ticket. Students are able to purchase up to two tickets. A ticket guarantees students transportation to and from the destination, admission and a planetarium show being offered at the museum. Attendees are asked to arrive at Wilkins Theatre trolley stop by 8:45 a.m. as the bus is scheduled to depart at 9 a.m. The bus is expected to return to campus around 3:30 p.m.
Magnani explained the clubs came together because of their members. “A lot of our members are very interested in the museum, but have never been there,” Magnani said. “Some of our executive board members have been to the museum, and thought that it would be a really great experience for not only our members, but for the entire Kean community.”
When students are making their way over the buy tickets, they should make sure to have a completed Student Activity Participation Agreement (SAPA) form. The form can be found here and will be labeled “Museum of Natural History Bus Trip.” Tickets will not be sold without the SAPA form.
“We would like the students to gain more information on things that they are interested in,” Magnani said. “The museum has all kinds of different things that would spark all kinds of interests such as animals, rocks, plants, and evolution.” The Museum of Natural History houses various exhibits, like fossils of creatures that no longer roam the earth, ancient artifacts from several cultures and an exploration of all things outer space.
Hurry on over to Wilkins Theatre Box Office as tickets are only available for sale until Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
The Museum of Natural History is located at Central Park West at 79th Street, New York, NY.
