According to The Alzheimer’s Association the Center for Disease Control, one in three senior citizens will suffer with some form of Alzheimer’s or other dementia. Anyone with a brain is at risk for this mentally crippling disorder that comes with old age – that’s why the girls of Mu Sigma Upsilon are having a bracelet making activity in the Miron Student Center (MSC) from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19 to show support for those with family members that are struggling.

Mu Sigma Upsilon will have a table in the MSC atrium for people to make bracelets for those with Alzheimer's. These bracelets will be made out of string and yarn by a method of weaving. Once a bracelet is completed, one can take their creation and gift it to someone who has Alzheimer’s themselves or is close with someone else who is affected by the disorder. These gifts are personable, unique, and guaranteed to remind someone that they are loved and cared for. During the event, they will also collect donations and they will be donated to the Great New Jersey Chapter Home of the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Mosaic chapter of national, multicultural sorority Mu Sigma Upsilon at Kean University has been around for nearly 20 years and they are dedicated to serving their community.

“Mu Sigma Upsilon Sorority, Inc. is an organization that provides a firm support and commitment based on the following objectives: promote academic excellence, enhance unity among all women, organize and support community and college oriented functions,” reads their description via Cougar Link.
