Spend the Christmas Season with Liberty Hall
Michael Dumaine l The Cougar’s Byte
Aside from fact that Liberty Hall Museum [LHM] is an incredibly important staple in America’s history book, the holiday season creates even more reasons to visit the museum. Beginning the day after Thanksgiving, LHM will kick off its first ever Deck the Halls: Fifty Years of Christmas Decorations celebration.
The festivities will begin with a Christmas tour being offered from Friday, November 27, 2015, through Wednesday, December 30, 2015, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The tour will aim to plunge visitors into a holiday time machine through the early 1900s to showcase holiday decorations from the past. The idea is to recreate an atmosphere that would have existed when the Livingston and Kean families inhabited the mansion during the Christmas season. Tour admission consists of $6 for children and $10 for adults.
Next in the lineup of merriments is the Gingerbread House Workshop, taking place December 12 and December 19. The event will hold two sessions both days from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. The admission price is $20 and will admit one adult and one child with a $5 extra charge per adult. Candy will be included as well, such as gumdrops, and all necessary materials for constructing a gingerbread house. The workshop aims to expand a child’s imagination and allows them to spend quality time with their parents with one goal in mind: create the most spectacular gingerbread house possible.
Following the making of gingerbread houses will be the How the Grinch Stole Lunch Feast. The feast will offer signature dishes from the story including roast beast, suess spuds, Cindy Lou Who cider and more. The lunch will take place Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. with admissions of $25 for children and $30 for adults. Aside from the appealing dishes being served, the mean green one himself Mr. Grinch will make an appearance for meet and greets and photos with guests. Don’t miss out on the chance to meet one of the most lovable Dr. Suess characters of all time while enjoying a special day with the family, partaking in a delicious lunch and creating everlasting memories.
Last but definitely not least on the holiday lineup, visitors of the museum will get to meet the jolly old man in red himself, Santa Clause. On Sunday, December 20, 2015, LHM will host Breakfast with Santa with two sessions from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. As stated on the LHM website, “whether you have been naughty or nice this year, all are welcome to join.” The event costs $30 for adults and $25 for children and consists of a hot breakfast, a meet and greets and pictures with Santa, as well as a tour of the Liberty Hall mansion while decorated for the Christmas Season.
Don’t miss out on a chance to get into the holiday spirit and spend time with loved ones with these fun-filled holiday events at LHM.
