On Sunday, December 6, 2015, Arturo Sandoval will be performing at Enlow Recital Hall. With the holiday season in full affect during the month of December, Sandoval will be performing holiday favorites on the trumpet.
A previous student of the famous jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, Cuban jazz artist Sandoval began playing trumpet at the age of 13. At first he studied classical music, and it wasn’t until he reached the age of 16 he began to seriously study the art of Jazz with his idol Gillespie.
His dedication towards the art of jazz, Sandoval has won numerous awards, which include 10 Grammy Awards (he has been nominated 19 times), Emmy Award winner and the 2013 Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient. On September 17 of 2015, he will be honored with the Hispanic Heritage Award for the Arts.
