Get to know the world’s biggest transit system

The easiest thing a New York/New Jersey metropolitan area college student can do is get lost in New York City (NYC). On Sunday, October 11, 2015, Student Organization will be taking a trip to the Big Apple in hopes to educate students on the ways of the subway.
At first, going into the city for a day seems like a great idea but if a person is not familiar with their surroundings, it can quickly become a disaster. New York City’s subway system is the world’s largest rapid transit system. With almost 500 stations in operation, 34 separate lines running 24 hours a day, it becomes difficult to wrap one’s head around the concept. Some people avoid NYC all together because they have no clue how to get where they are going – but thanks to Student Organization, those days will soon come to an end.
Starting this Sunday at noon, the Office of Student Government will be venturing off to NYC around 12 p.m. Students are asked to meet in Harwood Arena at this time. This tour/info session will cover everything from purchasing metro cards to accurately deciphering subway maps. Students will return to campus around 4 p.m.
