Musical group The King’s Singers comes to Kean University

British acapella sensation The King’s Singers will be coming to perform at Kean University on November 8, 2015. The performance will be held in Enlow Recital Hall at 3 p.m.

The King’s Singers will be performing their newest album, The Great American Songbook. The album consists of seventeen acapella tracks covering some of the greatest songs from American singers over the past 100 years. The group currently holds two Grammy Awards for their work on Simple Gifts and Light and Gold, as well as being one of two artists to ever be inducted into the Gramophone Hall of Fame.

Formed in 1967, The King’s Singers have always consisted of six members at one time; three tenors, two baritones, and a bass singer. Over the years, old members have been replaced by new members, and currently there have been a total of 24 members in the group since their formation.

The present lineup consists of:

Christopher Bruerton (baritone 1) – (2012)

Christopher Gabbitas (baritone 2) – (2004)

Jonathan Howard (bass) – (2010)

Heather Kelley, managing assistant director of Audience Services, expanded on the upcoming event. She stated, “Kean Stage strives to bring not only world-class artists but world-class entertainers to our venues, and The King's Singers are the perfect example of this. Known as much for their delightfully British sense of humor as for their incredible singing voices, The King's Singers are consummate performers, and an important component of Enlow Hall's 2015-2016 season.”
