Many incoming freshman find themselves at a point where they have no clue how to get involved on campus.
As a new student at a new school, it is hard to make friends and find what club or organization is of interest. That is what Kean Day is for, students to find clubs and organizations that interest them.
Kean Day will be held on Friday, September 10, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Miron Student Center (MSC) Plaza, and all along Cougar Walk, and is being hosted by the MSC operations and event management.
Beginning in 1982, this campus-wide festival is “designed to introduce [the] incoming freshmen class [as well as others] to the services, departments and student groups that are on campus and available to them,” says Kerrin Lyles, who is the director of the MSC operations and event management.
There will be many outside vendors present at Kean Day. In the past, vendors included 7-11 and Jersey Lanes.
Outside vendors “gives the students an opportunity to see which vendors support Kean University students by giving discounts or coupons to frequent their establishments,” continues Lyles.
Any students taking the Transition to Kean (T2K) course are required to attend Kean Day and must complete the Kean Day activity given to them in class. Students must check-in and check-out at the registration table by the Clock Tower in the center of campus.
All students are welcome to come. The different organizations that will attend will include Greek Organizations and student government. For more information please click here.
