These past couple of months, a large part of the Kean University community has gone under a few changes. As some may not know, the University Center (UC) will be renamed to the Miron Student Center (MSC), and along with the renaming comes new eateries that many will enjoy.
“We are excited that Jersey Mikes, Smash Burger, and Auntie Anne’s Pretzels have agreed to become a part of the Kean University Community,” comments Kerrin Lyles, director of the MSC operations and event management, “With the addition if these new eateries and the newly created Market Place [also known as The C-Store], we hope to provide our students and staff with additional food options.”
Jersey Mike’s (officially known as Jersey Mike’s Subs) is a franchise known for selling subs, sandwiches, and wraps. Auntie Anne’s Pretzels is a well-known eatery that serves handcrafted soft pretzels that range from Pretzel Nuggets to flavored pretzels like Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel. Smash Burger, on the other hand, is a fast-food restaurant chain that serves burgers and hot dogs in unique styles. The Market Place will be kept the same but relocated to a bigger area; with more room means more items to buy.
“My hope is that these new eateries will bring a different kind of energy and excitement to the MSC and the university community,” Lyles informs, “I have already heard from students that [they] are excited about these new options.” Jersey Mike’s is scheduled to open at the beginning of the fall semester and will be located inside of the MSC cafeteria, while Smash Burger, Auntie Anne’s and The Market Place will open sometime in the fall of 2016.
Come prepared with an appetite this fall semester and get ready to indulge in some delicious Jersey Mike’s Subs. Although Smash Burger and Auntie Anne’s is coming next year, save some room in that stomach for when they come because in the end soft pretzels and mouth-watering burgers are always great guilty pleasure foods.
