There are many ways to help others in need. People can volunteer within their community’s food bank, or help build a house by volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Besides helping a family or a person within one’s community, one can help another person in a different state or community by donating blood.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2015, the center for leadership and service (CLS) is hosting a blood drive to help those in need of a blood transfusion. For anyone who would like to donate blood or volunteer at the blood drive please follow the directions below:
For those donating blood: The New Jersey Blood Services will come to the university to collect a pint of blood from each donor. Students who would like to donate blood must report to the Miron Student Center (MSC) room 228 between 11:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, to donate.
For who would like to volunteer at the blood drive: The blood drive will need students to be a spotter, an assistant with registration, and as encouragement to those who are donating blood. One must pre-register and attend scheduled meetings in order to volunteer for the event. The scheduled meetings will be held in room 303E in the MSC and will be held on the dates of Thursday, July 2, at 10 a.m. and Tuesday, July 7, at 10 a.m. If one would like to become a volunteer one must also sign up for volunteer shifts at the CLS in the MSC room 215 two weeks prior to the blood drive or at the meeting.
