Kean Goes Kreyól

Join the Haitian Student Association in celebrating the culture of Haiti

Kean Goes Kreyól

Every year, the members of the Haitian Student Association (HSA) of Kean University honor their motherland with a festival of live music, food, and dancing.

On Saturday, May 9, 2015, the annual Kreyólfest will be held in Downs Hall with the doors opening at 6 p.m. and the event taking place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. This black tie affair is open to the public. Tickets are being sold at the Wilkins Theatre Box Office for the price of $5 for students with a valid Kean University identification card (ID) and $10 for non-students.

This year the HSA has gone above and beyond with its entertainment selection. Reputable kompa, amodern meringue music that is popular in Haiti, group Nu-Look will be performing for the evening. Nu-Look has six studio albums and has played in front of thousands of people. Also on the agenda for the night, is DJ Fabulous Faby who is a well-known female Haitian-American DJ.

The HSA gives students the opportunity to examine, understand, and appreciate the issues and culture of Haiti. For those interested in joining, the general body meetings are held every other Monday in University Center (UC) room 226 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
