Freshman class treasurer demonstrates his goals for the future

Dreams Turned To Reality

Being a successful college student requires determination, endless effort, and sacrifice. Students today who implement wise decisions by shaping their career paths through rich experiences should know that their futures can be vividly bright and extremely rewarding. Isaiah Pedroza, freshman finance major, is one of those students. Serving as freshman class treasurer, he is futuristic, conscientious, perseverant, and indeed an outstanding student who strives to take advantage of every single opportunity presented to him.

From achieving the role he once dreamed about to developing a strong work ethic, he has been able to maximize his first year at Kean University with high hopes and incredible energy. “Holding the position as freshman class treasurer is quite exciting. I like to represent my school professionally while also focusing on developing my mind for my major. Since my major is finance, my position is important because it is a stepping stone that I will use as a tool for my future,” declared the treasurer.

Working diligently to gain experience related to his major, Pedroza is expected to propose ideas on how to spend and manage the expense of money for his grade. He explains his motivation for his position by saying, “I chose to run for freshman class treasurer because I knew it was the first step to getting my feet wet in the finance aspect of the business world. I want to get involved so I can expand my resume and make my face familiar to the campus community.”

When Pedroza graduates, he wants to work for a large financial corporation as a paid intern in the field of finance and marketing, hopefully focusing on the benefits of a company through advertisement and promotion.

He also wants to express his interest in travel as well. Pedroza wishes to become a travel writer one day and acknowledge the world for its diversity in food, culture, and tradition. “After traveling for a couple years or so I would like to absorb all the countries I visited and open a restaurant based on a culture mix of all of them,” Pedroza said.

As a committed student, Pedroza competed in several competitions, all of which aimed to help him build his focus in business operations. He won the Foundation For Free Enterprise Business Plan Competition two times in a row. The challenge gave him the opportunity to creatively think of a business idea that embraces entrepreneurial spirit and innovative change. “I presented an event planning company, and the second year I won, I developed an application that assisted unemployed people with the whole process of gaining employment,” said Pedroza. He was also a semi-finalist for the Rothmans Institute Business Idea competition where he proposed his future culture mix restaurant.

Aside from serving as treasurer, Pedroza is a member of the Global Graduate Business Club, a club that allows students to intern in a foreign county when they become a junior or a senior Pedroza can be found working as a student ambassador for the office of undergraduate admissions. With all of his involvement comes various responsibilities that he must fulfill. However, he knows that with a busy schedule and active involvement, he is capable of achieving the most rewarding gift that life offers: success.
