Last chance for literature junkies; the final date for the spring Author Series is March 24, 2015. For the third time this semester, The Graduate and Part-Time Student Council has arranged for another well-recognized author to grace the campus with their presence. John Keene, renowned author and translator, will be appearing at East Campus room 203 at 4:30 p.m. Keene will also be signing personal copies, reading from his own works, and answering questions from audience members.
Not only is Keene an award winning author, he is also a chairman and professor at Rutgers-Newark. A master of fiction, poetry, essays, and translation, his work has been featured in an array of journals such asThe African-America Review, Public Space, TriQuarterly, and many more. His honors include several fellowships, including a New Jersey State Council of The Arts Fellowship in Poetry, a Whiting Foundation Award in Fiction and Poetry, and a Fellowship for Distinguished First Collection from the inaugural Pan-African Literary Forum.
This year, Keene is releasing his new book,Counternarratives, which will be a collection of novellas and short fictional stories. Its predecessor, 2006’sSeismosis, might be a tough act to follow—the book combines the wonderful world of art and poetry with illustrations by artist Christopher Stackhouse.
