On April 10, 2012, the Kean University chapter of the American Chemical Society (ACS) student group hosted Tim Lee -- scientist turned comedian -- in a free, nighttime comedy show, located in the University Center Little Theater. While the thought of an academic-based group executing a successful entertainment event may be an oddity, the group accomplished just that; and equipped itself with just the right man to pull off the job.
As shared with the audience, Lee earned his PhD at the University of California, Davis; but the biologist did not seem to find his calling in the sciences. Well, not quite. After trying comedy and deciding, of all things, a career in it would be the rout to take, Lee strategically incorporated his academic expertise into the base of his comedy. The result? Jersey Shore meets physics, no joke.
Students unable to make the event can still enjoy the comedy of Tim Lee, fortunately. The comedian actually started his career by becoming a YouTube sensation, earning millions of hits on his video posts. Starting true to his comedic beginnings, Lee continues to use the internet as a platform for his material. This does not stop the California-based talent from traveling to eager audiences, though. Following the New Jersey stop at Kean, Lee will round off his April 2012 touring in Australia.
The comedy show marks the last of major events for the ACS club in the 2011-12 academic year. Tyler SpanoSpano
