Schaal describes herself as a straight-edge, "truly kind" person - fitting for someone considering work with elementary school students. While she may find herself in an urban setting for the first couple years of teaching, Schaal says she would like to transition to an area more suburban. She is even considering an on-campus job with the Child Care Center as a way to work in an environment both professionally and comfortably fitting.
Whatever may come for Schaal, one thing is certain - her early engagement and contribution sets the bar for the kind of student she will graduate as. Sophomore year is calling; and new opportunities will certain dawn.
